The Venue
Nestled within the historic Chesapeake Mill, our café is surrounded by centuries of history and character. Built in 1820 using timbers from the American warship USS Chesapeake, the mill has lived many lives - from a hardworking watermill serving the local community to the unique destination it is today.
Now home to a charming collection of antiques, independent shops and hidden treasures, the building offers a truly special setting where past and present come together. Whether you’re browsing, relaxing over coffee, or celebrating something special, there’s a sense of story in every corner.

"Dave and Karen created our beautiful three-tier naked wedding cake, and it was exactly as we had envisioned. They struck the perfect balance between bringing our ideas to life and contributing their own expertise, which we really appreciated.
They also thoughtfully made a selection of “free-from” cupcakes to accommodate guests with allergies (including the groom!), which was a fantastic touch. The cake was delivered to the venue and set up perfectly, making the whole process completely stress-free. Our guests commented on how lovely the cake both looked and tasted.

"We chose David at Crumbs for our wedding catering, and from the very beginning he was professional, approachable, and incredibly helpful. During our consultation, he provided expert guidance and thoughtful suggestions, helping us create the perfect menu for our big day.
He was always happy to accommodate minor tweaks in the lead-up and ensured all dietary requirements were carefully considered, which gave us complete confidence. As we were hosting a rustic marquee wedding with some limitations, we opted for an afternoon tea-style wedding breakfast. David fully embraced our vision and elevated it beyond what we imagined.
On the day, everything was beautifully presented with elegant tea sets and cake stands, creating a stunning setup in the marquee. The children’s hampers were a huge success, with many guests commenting on how much the kids enjoyed them.
The food itself was exceptional. The scones were absolutely amazing, the macarons (which doubled as wedding favours) were beautiful, and the Viennese whirls were a clear guest favourite. Multiple guests told us how fantastic the food was, with many going back for seconds—something David and his team were more than happy to accommodate.
David also created our wedding cake and an evening charcuterie board. The cake was stunning, and despite the heat in the marquee causing it to begin to melt slightly, David and his team handled the situation quickly and professionally without any disruption to the day. The charcuterie board was a real highlight for the evening guests, who enjoyed grazing throughout the night.
The team on the day were warm, friendly, and highly attentive, ensuring tea and hot drinks were always available and that everything ran seamlessly. Their professionalism and calm approach meant we could completely relax and enjoy our day.
